Last weekend was a busy one, for sure. Marissa and I went to my parent's house on Friday for a quick visit. My dad's two brothers came to visit on Saturday and we had a yummy cook-out with the family. It was nice seeing everyone, considering we usually only see them 2-3 times a year! Marissa had a good time and got lots of attention from her Grammy and Grandpup! I guess that's the beauty of being an only grandchild, though she won't be for long. ;-)
Marissa and her Uncle Fuzz!
My parents got Marissa this John Deere Tractor to play with. She loved pushing it around. She's our little country girl!
I can't wait until the fall, my parents have started a pumpkin patch for Marissa. She will get to pick her very own pumpkin this year! They've also been growing watermelon, cantaloupe and butternut squash for her. Next year she might be old enough to pick strawberries in her strawberry patch (this year mommy got to pick and eat the yummy strawberries). Marissa chowed down on some home grown zucchini while we visited with my parents as well. She loves it sauteed in a little olive oil with seasoning. Everyone at the cook-out was amazed at how well Marissa eats. :-D
After the cook-out we packed up and headed home. The traffic on the way home was much smoother than it was on Friday, but it was still a long drive and I was exhausted and ready to crash!
Danny's brother, wife and baby came to visit this weekend so we spent much of our time at Danny's parents house visiting with everyone. We had a cook-out there for his mom's birthday (Firework baby born on July 4th!). It was nice but it went by too fast. Before we knew it, Tuesday had rolled around and it was back to the grind.
We decided to forgo fireworks on the 4th. We were tired, Marissa was ready for bed and we weren't sure how Marissa would react to the fireworks. We may take her this weekend to see some local fireworks, but we'll see if we're up to it or not.
Marissa's 1st birthday is literally right around the corner and I have to finish all of the decorations. I'm hoping that I can set aside some time to craft with a friend one weekend. I think we're planning on crafting after Marissa goes to bed so we won't be interrupted. I'm usually not a procrastinator but it's just so hard finding time!
And now onto the explanation of my blog post for today...Some friends of ours, Dorsey and Kadee, welcomed their baby boy into the world today! We are so happy for them and know that they will have so much love and happiness from their little bundle of joy! He was one of the 5-6% of babies born on his/her actual due date! How cool!
