Those are questions that may never be answered.
In the short time that I read Jamesie's blog, I grew attached to his story. Jamesie loved Giraffes! His casket was displayed with his favorite Giraffe toys and blankets and he loved going to the zoo to feed the Giraffes. A few days after Jamesie passed, a baby girl giraffe was born at the Dallas Zoo. The zoo is currently having a contest to name the baby giraffe. Jamesie's parents have set out to win this contest. Maybe it's closure for them, or a way for their sweet Jamesie to live on, but they are asking for everyone to submit the name "Jamie" in honor of their son Jamesie to the Dallas Zoo.
You can read more about Jamesie's story here. Warning: Grab the tissues!
If you could take a moment to vote, you could make a difference in Jamesie's parents' lives. You could help the legacy of their son live on. If the name "Jamie" is picked for the baby Giraffe, I know it would bring so much joy to Jamesie's parents, maybe even an unanswered prayer or a way of letting them know that little Jamesie is looking down on them. All it takes is a quick minute to fill out the form, an envelope and a stamp! Make a difference in someone's life. Stop the hustle and bustle of your busy life for just a minute, reach out to a stranger and call this your good deed of the day!
The form can be found here, don't forget to suggest the name "Jamie"
All entries must be received by August 21st, the winner will be announced September 2nd!
Great post, Alicia. Did you read the letter that James' Dad submitted to the zoo? It's incredible, he is a great writer.
ReplyDeleteI really, really hope they name the baby giraffe in James' honor.
I was very inspired and touched by this, I was able to get about 10 people to join me in putting in submissions to the zoo. They are going to be puzzled when they open ours, from Alaska lol.
