Taking Shape!

Marissa is learning and growing so much right now.  This week she has learned how to use her shape sorter.  I will point to the shape that the block goes into and she will push it through.  Sometimes she tries to slam it in and she has a little trouble, but she is starting to get the hang of it.  She also like to turn the shape sorter upside down and put all of the pieces inside.  Then she shakes it vigorously until they all fly out and she giggles her sweet little laugh that melts my heart.  It is so neat to watch her grow and learn...she's really taking shape. =)

You can see that she put the red circle into the hole!  My camera phone wasn't fast enough to catch her actually doing it, so you get the before and after affects.

I'm slowly getting things together for Marissa's birthday party!  Expect lots of ladybugs! =)

If we can get some much needed yard work done this weekend, we plan to take a trip up to my parents next weekend for the annual "crawl."  The crawl is miles and miles and miles of yard sales.  I have some stuff that I'm looking to get rid of and we haven't been to my parents in quite awhile.  It should be fun and maybe we can come home with some loot, too.  I'm on the search for a nice double stroller and maybe some gender neutral baby items.  Unfortunately, we don't find out what we're having until the 18th and the crawl is the weekend of the 13th.  But, that means we only have 2 weeks and 1 day until we find out if Marissa will have a baby brother or a baby sister on the way!  So exciting!

We still haven't really discussed names or nursery themes yet.  Though I am sure Danny will leave the nursery theme up to me.  When we found out Marissa was a girl, we decided on her name on our ride home from the sonogram.  I don't think we'll be that prepared this time around.  We just haven't given it much thought.  I guess with Danny traveling all the time and Marissa keeping us busy we just haven't had the time.  Either way, I know we'll come up with the perfect name for this little one.  With picking names comes the inevitable wide eyed stares and "Oh no, why would you name your kid that?"  Oh the joys of parenthood!  Sometimes I wish people knew when to just keep quiet.  Didn't their parents teach them "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?"

To continue on with my pregnancy rant....it amazes me how even though I've already went through pregnancy once and almost have a 1 year old that people still find it necessary to comment on things I already know.  I hate to have that "been there, done that" mentality but seriously people, this isn't my first BBQ.  I have to kind of laugh when people try to school me on breastfeeding, laboring without an epidural, using cloth diapers, etc.  All the things I set out to do with Marissa, I did...and I'm very proud of each and every one of those accomplishments (especially when people told me I couldn't do it).  I honestly wouldn't change a thing!  Yes, cloth diapering two children will be more work for me, but it's so worth it!  Yes, breastfeeding and exclusively pumping while I work 40 hours a week is exhausting, time consuming and a true pain in the ass at times, but the benefits for baby and me are worth it!  And lastly, having a natural, pain med-free birth was the most exhilarating experience.  I will do it again in a heart beat if my body is willing and able.
