Under the Weather

I didn't get a chance to post on Thanksgiving, but our little family had a nice trip to my parent's house.  We ate lots of yummy food and relaxed, did a bit of shopping, Danny went hunting and more relaxing.  We have lots to be thankful for in the past year!  I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

We came home from my parent's house on Saturday.  Marissa had started running a slight fever and was feeling a bit under the weather.  We got home, unpacked and she was in bed at her normal time.  Around 9:30 Saturday night it was time to give her some more Tylenol so we went in to wake her.  Thank goodness we did!  We checked her temperature and she was at 105.2.  Poor baby was burning up.  As first time parents we did the normal freak out for about 20 seconds then got our heads on straight and called the ER at the hospital.  We asked what we should do until we can get her to the hospital.  They directed for us to strip her down and keep cool wash cloths on her.  We gave her a dose of Tylenol and packed up to head to the ER.  Luckily we arrived with a fairly short wait time.  We got checked in and were given a room in about a half an hour.  They completed a flu swab, strep test and checked her ears, throat and lungs for a sign of what was causing the high fever.  Everything came back negative and they said it could be a viral infection or the start of an ear infection.  They administered Motrin and sent us home with a prescription.  It was a bit unsettling not knowing what was wrong, but we headed home and kept a close eye on Marissa's fever.  Sunday her fever was up and down, ranging between 102-104.  She was pretty miserable and had a few spurts of energy but was definitely not her normal self. 

Yesterday I stayed home from work with her.  Her spirits were much higher and her fever was much lower.  She's still been pretty cranky, sleeping more than usual but not sleeping through the night and wanting lots and lots of mommy and daddy snuggles (I'm not complaining).  I'm taking her to the pedi tomorrow so I hope they can either provide some additional details or at least give me a piece of mind that she is on the mend.  We will be postponing her 15 month shots that she was supposed to receive tomorrow until she is feeling better. 

Hopefully we don't have anymore ER visits in our near future!  All in all, I think Danny and I handled the situation well, we just hate to see our sweet baby girl not feeling well.

Today my work threw me a baby shower for Dylan.  My co-workers were so nice and generous to us.  We received towels, clothes, toys, a shopping cart cover, a homemade blanket and matching plush cube, knit converse shoes that are too cute and many other nice gifts.  We are truly blessed and we are just about set for Dylan to arrive.  I will be washing and sorting baby clothes tonight! :-D

So we've had a busy few days and I hope things settle down soon.  If Marissa is feeling up to it and the weather is decent, we're going to go to the local Christmas Parade with some friends on Saturday.  Cierra should be back from her "Eurotrip" soon and I hope we can see her once she's over the jet lag.  It has been far too long since we've seen her (last December!).  I think "Auntie C" will be amazed at home much Marissa has changed in the last year. 

I can't believe it's almost December.  I can't believe how fast the time is flying.  I can't believe Marissa will be 15 months old tomorrow and Dylan will be here in 5 +/- weeks!  I can't believe Christmas is right around the corner.  I know that having two under two (2U2) will be exhausting and overwhelming at times but I'm looking forward to the downtime of my maternity leave.  I feel so rushed all the time and having the holidays upon us does not help.  Here's to hoping we make it through the holidays in one piece! :)

Today I am 35 weeks along and have 35 days to go!  Here is Dylan in all his glory...I think he's either going to be a big boy or I'm not going to make it to my due date.  I'm huge!

Nursery/Name Reveal

It's what you've all been waiting for....right?  Right!

Our sweet baby boy officially has a name:  Dylan Anderson!


Here is a sneak peak of Dylan's nursery.  I love how it's coming together.  Danny did a great job and I can't wait to see the finished product.  We still have to put the glider in, the changing table and add a few more decorative pieces.  I also need to organize the closet.  At least he now has a place to sleep.  :-D

Update on the Fam

Yesterday I had my 33 week appointment.  Baby boy's heart rate was 138 BPM.  My blood pressure, weight gain, movement and growth are all on track.  I don't have another appointment until December 7th.  I was supposed to go back in 2 weeks but my doctor isn't available until the 7th.  I'll be 36 weeks then, so we'll start checking for progress then!

The nursery is finally coming along.  Hopefully Danny will paint the closet doors, put the crib together and help me put up the letters behind the crib for the big name reveal this weekend!  Stay tuned!  It has taken us a looong time to decide on a name for this little guy.  We're very happy with our choice, though I'm sure someone will have a comment, as most people usually do.  :)

Marissa is growing and learning so much!  We've been working on animal sounds and while she still has a way to go, she's starting to remember what each animal "says."  So far we've been working on meow, woof-woof, moo, nay-nay, quack-quack and bok-bok (for chicken).  She knows where teeth, eyes, ears, nose, feet and her belly button are, too.  She can sort of say teeth, nose and eye.  She's starting to become more verbal and attempting new words.  She also has her own version of "thank you" and "please."  Her communication is getting much better.  While she doesn't always say what she wants, she will point and open and close her hand to signal that she wants something.  She is starting to understand the concept of shaking her head yes and no.  Her newest game is if you ask her if she needs her diaper changed she will shake her head yes (though sometimes she is fibbing!).

Speaking of teeth...Marissa now has 5 teeth!  One of her top teeth on the right came in.  I can feel and see it but I'm not really sure which one it is.  She won't let me get a good enough look.

Well, hubby just got home from travel...it's husband and wife time!  Have a great weekend, blogger world!

Tuesday Treasure - Happy Girl!

Yesterday was gorgeous!  It was in the low 70's when we got home from work so we decided to take a stroll to the park in the neighborhood.  Marissa loved getting out and was giggling in the stroller.  I guess it has been awhile since we took a walk.  The dogs played fetch at the park while Marissa played on the slides and the swing.  I have more pictures but I didn't have a chance to upload them last night.  This was one of my favorite shots that I took and I thought I would share our happy little girl. :)

Sneaky Sneak Peek!

Okay, I know you've all been waiting for a nursery sneak peek for baby boy's room.  We're almost done painting.  You'll notice we still have blue tape on the brown stripe, we need to do one more coat and then can do the final reveal!  I can't wait to start decorating and putting the nursery together.  I'm getting very, very impatient (just ask my husband).

I mentioned it was going to be a very vibrant room, right?! 

It's also Hump Day Bump Day (HDBD) so here is my 32 week picture.  It's the first belly picture actually taken in the nursery.  I think we started Marissa's nursery around 22 weeks, we're only 10 weeks behind!

Tuesday Treasures!

I thought these were too funny not to share.  Last week we learned that peanut butter makes for great hair product.  She's a rockstar and she doesn't know it!

3 Years Ago...

Today Danny and I celebrate our third wedding anniversary.  It's hard to believe that three years ago I was walking down the aisle, marrying my best friend.  Here we are today with a beautiful little 14 month old girl that melts our hearts on a daily basis and a precious little boy who is awaiting his grand arrival.  I feel so very blessed to have Danny in my life and I know I wouldn't have Marissa or this baby boy without him. 

Tonight we're going out on the (down)town for a nice dinner as husband and wife.  =)

Baby Boy Update

I had my 31 week check up today.  Blood pressure, weight gain, movement, etc. is all looking great.  The doctor said that he is almost in the head down position, he's a little off to the left right now, but he's not breech.  His heart rate was 147 BPM and I'm measuring at 32 weeks instead of 31.  Right now the doctor isn't concerned with me measuring slightly ahead.  I did the same thing with Marissa about this time.  Also, I'm technically 31 weeks 4 days today, so I'm almost 32 weeks anyway.  She will monitor growth in the next couple of weeks and as we get closer to my due date I may see "Baby Boy" one more time on the ultrasound to get an estimate of his weight. 

Yes, we're still calling him Baby Boy because he does not have a name yet...and it is starting to have a ring to it. :-P

My next appointment is scheduled for November 17th and then...dun, dun, dun...I go WEEKLY until he's born.  Yikes!  Where has this pregnancy gone?! 

I asked the doctor today (already knowing that the answer is her guess is as good as mine) if second babies usually come sooner than the first.  She said in most cases a second baby does come sooner, but ultimately they come when they are ready.  I was a week overdue and induced with Marissa.  I still have a glimmer of hope that he will come after the holidays are over, but I'm hoping to avoid an induction this time around.  Time will tell!

We've started painting the nursery and I hope to start getting things back together this weekend.  I am waiting to take pictures because right now it looks a mess.  Stay tuned for some sneak peeks!

I still have quite a bit on my "to-do" list. 

• Recover Marissa's mobile with fabric that matches Baby Boy's nursery (requires sewing)
• Make or buy hand and foot print plaques
• Make decoration for behind the crib, I'm thinking initials but so far we only know of two initials
• Make decoration for his bedroom door, again we need a name for this
• Buy shelves for nursery and get decorative items
• Buy toy bin that matches nursery
• Hang wall art
• Finish painting
• Put together crib, move dresser and glider
• Organize closet and make closet labels

I'm sure I'm forgetting a number of things but that's all I can think of now.  I'm trying to hold off on buying anything for him because my work has graciously offered to throw me a baby shower at the end of November.  :)  Such a blessed little boy. 

Power of Prayer for Tripp

The blogger world is great for many things.  Like finding new recipes, sharing DIY tutorials, cleaning secrets, sharing family photos and keeping loved ones in touch when life gets busy.  The blogger world is also a tool to spread the word, ask for prayers and bring masses of people together to support someone in need.  

Recently, I've been following a blog about a little boy named Tripp who has a rare genetic disease called EB.  If you can, please take a moment to check out Tripp's Story and say a quick prayer for him and his family.  The power of prayer can be amazing and I know many, many moms are praying for Tripp to get better and holding their little ones extra tight!  No mother or innocent child should ever have to endure this kind of pain.
