11 Months!

Tomorrow Marissa will be celebrating her last "month" birthday!  I can't believe that she will be one in just 1 more month.  It has been such a joy to watch her learn and grow.

Marissa started with a new sitter this week and I'm happy to report that so far, so good.  I hope that this is a long term solution for us.  I'm so tired of worrying about who will care for my children while I'm at work.

While I still have so much to do for Marissa's birthday party, I did take a little time to do some on-line shopping for her.  I got her a few accessories for her play kitchen and I really need to get her some fall and winter clothes.  After inventoring her closet, she is going to be in need of pants, long sleeve shirts and SHOES!  I think her foot has finally grown a little and she is outgrowing her current shoes.  :)  I was given a few lightweight jackets for her that will be perfect for the fall season.  I'm really going to miss putting her in sun dresses, bubbles and rompers.  She looks so cute in them!

I have pictures to upload from our weekend with Danny's brother, hopefully I get to those soon.

My friend Erin and I went for pedicures yesterday and it was so nice to get out and get some girl time in for a little bit.  This was my first pedicure since having Marissa.  We stopped at Starbucks and I got a half-caf vanilla latte.  We hit up Bath & Body works and chatted over our pedi's.  Then we grabbed a quick bite to eat and I headed home to get Marissa.  It's nice to spoil myself every once in awhile.  Danny has been hitting up the movie theatre while he's been on travel, so I figured I should get to splurge a little, too.

Danny will be coming home tonight and I can't wait to see him!

Don't laugh...I know these are like a month and a half late, but here are Marissa's 9 month pictures!  Hey, better late than never, right?! Right!

I love her big blue eyes!

I love her facial expression here!

Here are a few additional shots that were taken during our Virginia Beach trip.

Having fun with Erin!

And we can't forget about the baby in the oven!

Here I am in all my pregnant glory...16 weeks!

And this was 16 weeks with Marissa:

My dad brought us a 5 gallon bucket of vegetables from his garden over the weekend.  We have squash, zucchini, green peppers, hot peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and peaches.  To try and use some of the veggies up, I made squash casserole last night!  I will be eating that for lunch/dinner some this week and I made a separate one for the freezer, since Danny isn't here.  Marissa also enjoyed some sauteed squash from her Grandpup's garden.  That was her first time having squash and she really liked it, normally she has zucchini.  I also made yummy cucumber salad with vinegar, onion and italian dressing.  I can't wait to dig into that today!  I love the summer because my dad gives us tons of fresh veggies and we don't have to do any of the hard work, except cook it and it eat, which is the best part! :-D  Soon we should have fresh green beans, corn and maybe some beets!  Mmmm mmm, good!  Marissa also loves beets but they sure are messy!

Stay tuned for tomorrow's Wordless Wendesday, I have a special photo that I am in love with.  It needs to be framed. :)

Whirlwind of Thoughts

I am so behind on blogging and I wish I had more time to devote to it.  Since I've been MIA, I'll go ahead and dive in to what we've been up to, both good and bad....but first, a picture of lil Miss!

The Good:

My parents came for a short visit on Friday evening and stayed for half a day on Saturday.  Marissa enjoyed her time with Grammy and Grandpup.  My mom let me sleep in a bit on Saturday morning while she entertained Marissa.  Though I could hear them crawling around on the floor (I think my mom was chasing Marissa) and I could hear Marissa banging her toys on the floor, the coffee table and yelling "moooommmmm."  :-)

Friday my friend Erin came over to scrapbook while I worked on some decorations for Marissa's 1st birthday party.  Her party is in 6 weeks, which seems like plenty of time, but our weekends are filling up so fast that I really need to get things wrapped up so I can focus my energy on other things.  I hate having things hang over my head and I'm usually not one to procrastinate.

Saturday Erin invited me and Marissa to the Lake for the weekend.  I really wanted to stay at home and relax on the couch with my husband that I barely ever see, but he already made plans with his dad to go to a tractor/truck pull.  I didn't want to spend another night alone, so we packed up Erin's car and hit the road.  It is amazing how much stuff you have to bring along for a ONE night trip with a baby.  It almost makes me dread thinking about packing for our week long vacation that is coming up.  We relaxed around the house, made dinner and I got in bed by 11 because I knew Marissa would be up bright and early.  On Sunday Danny joined us at the lake with the dogs.  They enjoyed swimming and the guys drove jet skis while us girls hit the lake/beach.  Marissa LOVED the water.  She was splashing and having such a great time.  I have pictures that I need to post, but they will have to wait.  We stayed for dinner and gave Marissa a bath and put her to bed by 7.  Once we were ready to head home we loaded her in the car.  It was nice that she was able to get all of her regular sleep in. She must have been worn out from the beach because she didn't make a peep when I put her to bed.

This weekend we are going to Danny's brother's house.  We are going to a Trace Adkins concert with them on Saturday which should be a lot of fun.  We don't get to see them often and while the 6 hour drive is not ideal with a baby, hopefully we will get lucky and drive at night, allowing Marissa to sleep most of the way home.

We ordered Marissa's "big girl" car seat!  It's kind of bitter sweet.  We should have it installed and ready to go this week.  She is also really taking to her sippy cup now.  The only bottle she has is right before bed.  I need to invest in some more sippy cups, because her favorite one already has a busted spout from her chewing on it, so it leaks.  It's amazing how much she has changed in the past year.  She is also starting to stand on her own without holding anything.  She's getting really good at getting her balance!

We will be vacationing in the Outerbanks in just a little over a month.  I am in desperate need of a vacation!  Danny and I are also contemplating taking an "adults only" vacation before the new baby comes and before I get too big to fly.  We're thinking maybe a trip in early to mid October, but we'll see.  We probably shouldn't take two vacations back to back, but it may be awhile before we are able to take another one.  I know I probably won't want to leave the new baby when he or she is young.  Heck, it's still hard for me to leave Marissa and she's almost a year old.  If we were to take an adults only vacation, I will definitely have to do an over night trial away from her to see if I can handle it.  I would miss her so much!

Marissa is learning and growing so much right now.  Marissa's Uncle Robby and Aunt Katie got her this for Christmas and she has finally learned how to put the ball in the giraffe's mouth. We are so proud of her and clap and praise her every time she does it.  She also loves standing next to the giraffe and dancing to the music.  While we were at the lake yesterday we had a toy football that we let her play with and it sounded like she was trying to say ball.  She definitely got the "buh" sound down and a few times it actually sounded like ball.  Very cute!

I'm 16 weeks along today!  Wow, time is FLYING!  I have my 16 week check up this Thursday and then we will be making our big 20 week ultrasound appointment to find out what we are having.  So exciting!  I hope the baby is healthy and growing.  I haven't really felt the baby move yet, maybe a flutter here or there but nothing consistent.

Marissa's 1st birthday invites will (hopefully) go in the mail this week!

I haven't had time to upload many pictures but here is a recent one of her eating kiwi, she LOVED it!  This is her "mmmm" face.

The Bad:

Friday when I dropped Marissa off at her sitters house, she notified me that we will need to find alternative care.  She is moving within the next couple of weeks.  I really didn't ask many details as I feel it is really not my business or place to, but I am very sorry to see her leave.  Overall we have really liked her and Marissa seems to be very well adjusted to her routine there.  So needless to say, I've been stressed about finding new care with someone I trust, someone that Marissa will feel comfortable with and someone who is reliable.  I am meeting with someone next Monday and I have high hopes that everything will work out for us.  The plan right now is for Marissa's last day to be this Friday with the current sitter.  I try to keep in mind that everything happens for a reason and everything will work out how it's supposed to.  I just hope this transition is an easy one on myself and more importantly on Marissa.

Marissa and I both seem to have a bit of a cold.  It seems to be getting better and I'm hoping it is running its course and almost over.  Marissa hasn't had a fever or anything and overall seems to be her happy self.

Danny still has several months of travel.  It's wearing me down and I really miss him.  It's especially hard when we are torn in different directions all the time.  This is another reason why I think it would be nice to have an adults only vacation.  We could celebrate our birthdays, anniversary, a new addition to our family and most importantly our love and marriage!  I think it would be great for us to get away for a bit.  I just need to convince myself that I can be away from Marissa for that long.

With Danny's current schedule, he will miss Marissa's actual birthday and he will be gone the few days before her birthday bash, meaning I will not have the much needed help from him that I was counting on.  Seriously, something has got to give! >:-| (that's my angry face).

So that's what we've been up to.  Lots going on and not much time to just relax and breathe!  I have many pictures I need to upload of Marissa.  Maybe between the stacks of laundry I have to wash tonight, I can get them up for your viewing pleasure. :)

Friday Excitement

Marissa had a follow up for her ear infection today so her and daddy spent the day together.  I got home this afternoon after work excited to see my family.  A few minutes later a cop pulls in the driveway.  We're standing at the door wondering what in the world is going on.  The cop knocks on the door and says that she was dispatched to our house due to an open call coming from our line.  Uh-oh!  We immediately knew what that meant.  Danny went searching for the phone and sure enough, Miss Marissa had managed to call the police station.  How embarrassing!

We apologized to the cop and she said that it happens all the time and she was glad everything/everyone was okay.  After she left we both got a pretty good laugh.  We thought we had a few more years before we had to worry about the cops showing up at the house!

Marissa sure keeps us on our toes. :)

Happy Friday!

Due Date Baby!

How is it July already?  The time is going by so quickly, I feel like we have barely had time to enjoy the summer.

Last weekend was a busy one, for sure.  Marissa and I went to my parent's house on Friday for a quick visit.  My dad's two brothers came to visit on Saturday and we had a yummy cook-out with the family.  It was nice seeing everyone, considering we usually only see them 2-3 times a year!  Marissa had a good time and got lots of attention from her Grammy and Grandpup!  I guess that's the beauty of being an only grandchild, though she won't be for long. ;-)

Marissa and her Uncle Fuzz!

My parents got Marissa this John Deere Tractor to play with. She loved pushing it around. She's our little country girl!

I can't wait until the fall, my parents have started a pumpkin patch for Marissa.  She will get to pick her very own pumpkin this year!  They've also been growing watermelon, cantaloupe and butternut squash for her.  Next year she might be old enough to pick strawberries in her strawberry patch (this year mommy got to pick and eat the yummy strawberries).  Marissa chowed down on some home grown zucchini while we visited with my parents as well.  She loves it sauteed in a little olive oil with seasoning.  Everyone at the cook-out was amazed at how well Marissa eats.  :-D

After the cook-out we packed up and headed home.  The traffic on the way home was much smoother than it was on Friday, but it was still a long drive and I was exhausted and ready to crash!

Danny's brother, wife and baby came to visit this weekend so we spent much of our time at Danny's parents house visiting with everyone.  We had a cook-out there for his mom's birthday (Firework baby born on July 4th!).  It was nice but it went by too fast.  Before we knew it, Tuesday had rolled around and it was back to the grind.

We decided to forgo fireworks on the 4th.  We were tired, Marissa was ready for bed and we weren't sure how Marissa would react to the fireworks.  We may take her this weekend to see some local fireworks, but we'll see if we're up to it or not.

Marissa's 1st birthday is literally right around the corner and I have to finish all of the decorations.  I'm hoping that I can set aside some time to craft with a friend one weekend.  I think we're planning on crafting after Marissa goes to bed so we won't be interrupted.  I'm usually not a procrastinator but it's just so hard finding time!

And now onto the explanation of my blog post for today...Some friends of ours, Dorsey and Kadee, welcomed their baby boy into the world today!  We are so happy for them and know that they will have so much love and happiness from their little bundle of joy!  He was one of the 5-6% of babies born on his/her actual due date!  How cool!

10 Months!

Marissa turned 10 months old yesterday.  It is truly hard to believe.  I can't believe that in less than 2 months, I will have a 1 year old!

Trouble!

Marissa tried blueberries for the first time yesterday and unlike her momma, she loved them!

MmMmm...blueberries are good mama!

Danny has been on travel the past few days, he will be coming home tonight but we'll miss him as Marissa and I are going to my parents house today after work.  I'll see him Saturday though, so not much longer.

Look how big she looks! She loves this toy.

My parents are having a cook-out on Saturday so I'm excited for that.  Then on Sunday we will be having a cook-out with Danny's family.  It should be a nice, long weekend!

Have a safe and happy 4th of July!
