Weekend Getaway

Danny, the kids and I spent a weekend away in Williamsburg.  On Saturday we hit up a local brewery called Williamsburg Alewerks and did a beer tasting.  Afterwards, we headed back to the room and ordered pizza and wings in.  Once we got the little ones settled in bed we shared a bottle of wine (Danny never drinks wine with me, so I was pretty excited that he shared some with me).  We had a really nice condo at our resort.  We had two bedrooms, two baths and a full kitchen.  It was really nice to get away as a family and get some quality time with Danny.

Sunday we met up with some friends and had a little play date for all the kids!  Michelle and Mark invited us over and we had lunch and dinner together.  Marissa and AJ played in the back yard, we drank beer, talked Pinterest, ate yummy food (including homemade donuts, courtesy of pinterest, yum!) and caught up.  A good friend of Danny's, Dorsey, who was in our wedding was also in Williamsburg so he and his wife, Kadee, and their baby boy Tommy stopped by to see us, too! Did you catch all that!? :)   It was so nice to see them as we only see them once or twice a year.  The last time we saw Tommy he was only about 8 weeks old.

I love this picture!  Danny, Dorsey, Dylan (3.5 months) and Tommy (9.5 months)!

Bubbles (we definitely need to invest in a bubble machine for Marissa)

We headed home on Monday, unpacked and got ready for the work week.  I am really loving this whole part-time gig!  It truly is the best of both worlds for me.

Easter 2012

I hope everyone had a happy Easter!  We traveled to my parents house for the weekend and thankfully both kids slept pretty decent.  I was really worried about how Dylan would sleep but surprisingly he slept better there than he has at our house.  Go figure!

I know my parents really enjoyed spending time with the grandbabies.  Marissa had her very first egg hunt and she did really well!  She loved being outside and exploring "the farm."

We colored eggs with Marissa.  She was throwing the eggs in the cups.  It was pretty cute.

Can you see the yellow dye splashing?

Helping Daddy, so sweet!

The Easter Bunny came to drop off baskets for the kids:

Uncle Fuzz came to visit, too!  Marissa was trying to say "Fuzz" and it was too cute!

Grammy did some baby wearing.  Have I mentioned how much I love my Beco Butterfly II baby carrier?  I don't think my mom knew what to think about baby wearing...this was her first time.

Marissa had to stop and see what was in one of her eggs

Uh-oh!

Can't waste jelly beans!

Marissa lost her pants!

Marissa checked out her basket, she loved the veggie pouch and her pink truck!

If you need your picky toddler to eat a well balanced meal, these pouches are great!  I like the veggie pouches since Marissa tends to like more fruits.

We took some family photos that I will share soon!

Ramblings of A Sleep Deprived Momma

Dylan is sleeping like crap.  Apparently he has reverted back to the newborn phase; waking every 2 hours in the middle of the night.  I have no idea what his deal is.  Isn't it perfect timing that I returned to work and he stops sleeping through the night?  I think it's his way of sticking it to the man...or in this case, sticking it to me.  He must be mad at me for leaving him. :(

Oddly enough, I don't feel as tired as I probably should.  When I get woken up in the middle of the night and when I get up for the day I feel pretty crabby and irritable.  I think I sometimes envy my husband because he can sleep through anything...including a screaming baby at 1:00, 3:00 and 5:00 AM.  Once I get a shower and a cup of coffee in me, I feel okay, for not getting much sleep at least.

Work has been busy.  I'm trying to cram 5 days of work into 3 days a week.  It's good because the days go by quickly but I switched gears so many times today that I wasn't sure which way was up.  I need to sharpen my mind a bit.  I've been in baby mode for 3 months with minimal adult interaction.  I do think that it's a nice balance between home and work and I'm so glad I did not return full time.

With that, I've decided that my kids have been eating my brain cells in my (lack of) sleep.  Maybe it will just take me a little time to get back into the swing of things but I feel like my brain has turned to mush.  Oh the joys of having children!

All in all, I really can't complain.  I have two beautiful; healthy children, a husband that loves me and a place to call home.

Dylan is weighing in at about 15 pounds!  He is quite the chunk.  Anyway...on to the good stuff:

DIY Envelope Pillow Covers

I purchased fabric to jazz up our ordinary throw pillows in the living room.  I have 4 pillows to do, so far I've finished 1.  I'm debating on keeping 2 as-is and 2 with a pattern.  Thoughts?

The Whitney Dress

I was asked to be a pattern tester again over at Grits and Giggles for the "Whitney" Dress.  It looks adorable on Marissa and came together fairly quick!  This was my first time using elastic and I'm no longer intimidated to use it.  You can purchase this pattern in her Etsy shop soon!

I have no idea what she is saying here...but she looks bossy!

Mommy & Me Monday

Of course they didn't cooperate, but I love it anyway.
