We Have Walls

We just got back from our Disney vacation (another post for another time) and we came home to some real progress on the home site.  It was really exciting to see that we have WALLS!

Right before we left for vacation they had dug out the basement.  It wasn't really much to see, though.  Just a big hole in the semi shape of a rectangle with a bunch of dirt.  But upon our return we had poured concrete walls and prep for plumbing.

See, not much to look at, right? Picture taken September 11th.

NOW we're talkin'!  Look at this beauty. :)

Danny and I were pretty excited to see this.  It makes us feel like we are actually making progress.

Yesterday the basement plumbing was done and the inspection was supposed to take place today.  Our contractor said that we should have a concrete floor in the basement by the end of the week.

Facebook Reveal

After my 12 week appointment today and hearing the little one's heart beat we felt comfortable enough to share our news on Facebook. We are so grateful for friends and family who support us.

The little one was moving around quite a bit this morning (caffeine rush?!) but the nurse was finally able to get the heart beat on the doppler and it was measuring right around 150 beats per minute.  Based on my pregnancy with Dylan, I'm going to say this one is a boy!  I'm still having some morning sickness here and there and since I never actually got sick with Marissa but did with Dylan, I'm thinking that it's another boy.  His heart rate was also 150 BPM right around the 12 week mark.  Only 28 more weeks until we find out.

So far I have gained 1 pound.  I haven't really been craving anything but when I hear something that sounds good, I think about it until I get it.  I feel like I already look 5 months pregnant, especially at night when my bloat is the worst.  Looks like I will need to dig my maternity clothes out of storage soon.

Marissa is 100% positive she is getting a baby sister and that her name will be Gracie.  I'm afraid she is going to be disappointed.  I have tried telling her that we don't get to pick what we have and that she might get another baby brother.  She doesn't seem to think so.

Lot Cleared - Check

We've finally seen some progress on the home front.  Our lot has been cleared and they are in the process of removing the brush.  We were really surprised at how quickly they got the lot cleared.  Now it's back to waiting for the next big thing to happen.

Day 1: August 22nd

It's not much to see...but it's something!

View from the road.  I like that we have some buffer trees between us and the neighbors.

We're leaving for Florida next week so I hope we arrive home to some new action going on.

Marissa is 3!

How has it been three years since I gave birth to the most beautiful little girl in the world?  She is such a sweet, caring, one of a kind sweet heart. Love her to pieces!

Happy 3rd Birthday, Marissa. We love you!!

In Other News...No Progress

Well, August 15th came and went and breaking ground didn't happen.  We've been told tomorrow is the day.  We'll see.  I think adding in that I'm pregnant and my already type A personality, it's going to drive me crazy when things don't get done when they are supposed to get done.  Someone grant me patience because I have a feeling I will need it during this process!

Here's a mock up of the front of our new home.  It doesn't show the bay window on the left or the railings on the porch/steps, but everything else is pretty true to how it will look.  We will also have tan siding and black shutters with black shingles.  The big window over the garage is where my garden tub will be.  Can't wait!!

Week 7

Baby is the size of a blueberry this week.  And this little blueberry is making me feel nauseous all.day.long.  Mornings until some time around mid afternoon are the worst.  It doesn't help that I have a cold and sinus drainage is making me gag.  Hopefully this is a good sign that everything is progressing, but I certainly can't wait to be feeling better.  I normally love food and having no appetite stinks!  Apparently all my body wants right now is junk.  This weekend I didn't indulge in much quantity of food but when I did I had things like: fried pickles, Auntie Anne's pretzels, mac n cheese, mashed potatoes (for breakfast), oh...and a half of a salad.  I've also been craving sweet tea.  I've always loved tea but I rarely drink it.  I'm not sure if I just mentally blocked out the first tri nausea with Marissa and Dylan but I don't remember it being this bad.  I think it's a sign that this really will be my last pregnancy.  So I guess I better get on to enjoying it!

I have another ultrasound next Tuesday.  Then we're gearing up for Marissa's 3rd birthday and then we head for Disney in a few short weeks!

Update

My midwife was able to see me yesterday at 2:00.  While the receptionist said that they would not give me an ultrasound at the appointment, the midwife decided to order one on the spot to make sure everything was okay, to rule out an ectopic pregnancy, etc.  I was so nervous but it ended up that our little pea is growing!!   We were able to see the heartbeat at 122 BPM and they moved my EDD up one day to April 6th.  I thought I was 6w1d but they changed it to 6w2d based on the ultrasound measurements.

Whew!

What a sigh of relief.  Not that I'm out of the woods just yet, but seeing that little heart beating reassured me that everything was going okay.  It is such an unsettling feeling not knowing what is going on with your body.
I have never had an ultrasound this early and I could not believe how TINY he/she is.  It was so neat to see the little heart beating, though. Truly a miracle.

This morning I've been feeling pretty nauseous.  I couldn't even drink all of my morning cup of coffee.  While this is typical of my pregnancies to not be able to handle coffee in the first tri, I am sad.  I am not sleeping well and I really love my morning cup of coffee.

The new midwife that I saw seems really nice.  Even though this is a larger practice, much like the one I went to with Marissa and Dylan, I felt like she gave me more attention and time than the other OBs I've previously seen.  She said that she lives 3 minutes from the hospital and she delivers all of her babies.  She said she is on call 24/7.  She even said when the time comes she will give me her cell number so I can call/text her when we are on the way to the hospital.  After the care I received while I was in labor with Dylan, I'm really excited to have a midwife.  Since I do natural birth (pain med-free) I am really looking for a care provider who isn't pushing pitocin, not allowing me to walk around during labor, etc.  I am hoping that this will be a good birth experience!
